Sing Sistah Sing! has made The Guardian’s 25 Unmissable Cultural Christmas crackers!

Sing Sistah Sing! is thrilled to have made the Cultural Christmas Cracker selection by The Guardian.

The award-winning show picked up a number of high-profile accolades over the summer throughout it’s Edinburgh Fringe Festival run, from The Times, The Independent and was honoured to receive the ThreeWeeks Editors’ Awards 2018!

What is the show all about?

“Sing Sistah Sing! A Christmas Celebration” celebrates the joyful, soulful, spirit of an African American musical Christmas -featuring much loved festive favourites, with Gluehwein and festive cheer for one and all. Keep an eye on the Sing Sistah Sing! Facebook page for some sneak peeks of what to expect and some other special announcements.

Christmas Day is extremely important to African Americans as historically it was the only day that slaves were not forced to work. Instead they sang – and they began with spiritual songs.

At Christmas many classical pieces are often performed : Handel’s Messiah and Bach’s Christmas Oratorio. Some of the women who feature in Sing Sistah Sing! took that energy and brought it to Christmas music!
