Summer Update!

I am honoured and excited to announce that I will be returning to the Edinburgh International Festival this summer in two semi-staged performances of Judith Wier’s Woman.Life.Song with the amazing Chineke! Orchestra and conducted by the brilliant William Eddins. Originally created for Jessye Norman, with text from three of America’s greatest poets; Maya Angelou, Toni Morrison, and Clarissa Pinkola Estes, this is a piece I have wanted to perform since I first heard it in 2000.

Featuring in a new post-Covid19 festival is really something special. Being able to welcome live audiences again to my home city of Edinburgh and to perform with such esteemed artists is a dream come true. Due to the restricted audience sizes, and there being just two exclusive performances, early booking is highly recommended. Priority booking is now available for EIF Friend and Friend Plus, general tickets go on sale June 11th, both available here. In addition, there will be an initiative supported by the International Festival for BAME youth to gain exclusive access to the rehearsal process. PLEASE watch this space for further details.

In addition to my work with the Edinburgh International Festival, I will also be stepping back into the world of opera with a new production in Berlin in September with Die Krönung der Schöpfung, presented by Produktion FMK directed by Teresa Reiber, with composer and music director, Ruth Wiesenfeld. Performances are 23, 24, 25 and 26th September in Berlin’s iconic “Grosser Wasserspeicher” further ticket information to follow but be sure to hold the dates!

In addition to my work preparing to perform again live, I have continued to work in radio and in the new world of podcasting. The Sounds Connected series for BBC Radio 3 brilliantly produced by Laura Metcalfe, is a new adventure for me, and unscripted half hour of my chosen music with unusual personal connections and stories about the performers and creators.

I have also continued to be a regular guest on Talk Media a weekly podcast on Scotland’s only curated podcast network The Big Light. Please visit my Radio section on the site for links to listen again.

In Nevis Ensemble news, there is a fantastic new project called Amplify created with The Survivor Arts Community. Please visit my Nevis Ensemble page to learn more and watch the wonderful performances.

Sadly, even though things are beginning to open again, there are always new Covid surprises! Unfortunately, this has affected the upcoming performances in France at the Theatre Basse Passiere. The new Covid travel restrictions implemented on 31.05.2021 mean that the performances will be postponed. Watch this space for new dates and information.

While things remain uncertain, I am excited to again be artistically active in front of a LIVE AUDIENCE!  Please keep an eye on my calendar for updates and ticket information, as soon as they become available they will be added.
